Additional Mirrors

Additional mirrors can improve visibility to the sides and rear of the vehicle and may be useful for people who have reduced or restricted range of movement in their necks or trunk and may not have sufficient movement to make the required observations whilst driving

Panoramic mirrors are usually larger than normal mirrors and generally can be fitted over the existing interior mirror. The convex curvature of the mirror gives the driver an increased
view of the road behind and to the sides.

Blind spot mirrors come in two main shapes; circular or rectangular, most adhere to the door mirror and are designed to enable drivers to see into the blind spot area. This gives a much improved view to the side and kerb areas. Blind spot mirrors should cover no more than twenty percent of the door mirror surface

Gooseneck mirrors are adjustable mirrors that can be angled to improve vision in the required direction.

Points to consider

•  Extra mirrors fitted to the dashboard or windscreen area can obstruct forward vision.

•  Extra mirrors can be fitted to the bonnet area but ideally these need to be about door mirror size.

•  You may need to buy several mirrors in order to try them out and see if they assist with the problem - ask before purchasing if you can return mirrors not required and have your money refunded.

•  If you require additional mirrors due to a medical condition in order to drive safely, you will need to inform the DVLA medical group tel: 0870 600030. You should also inform your insurance company.
